From Monica Edinger's (Author of Africa is My Home) blog-

…a little bird told me the next two are in the home stretch of being finished and coming out some time in the not-too-far-off future. First the publisher will reissue the original four to bring a new generation of readers to them and then…numbers five and six. Excited moi? Just a bit.

According to Amazon, new editions of books 1-4 are going to be released February 28th, 2017. Source. Also confirmed by the Harpercollins website. Source. Could books five and six follow behind in 2017? We can only hope!

I'm sorry I laughed when you said you were living in a cave. I thought you were joking. D:

I could go into the allegory of how reading QT is like coming out of Plato's cave, but that'd be pushing it.

If you're that much a Plato fan, have you read Jo Walton's Thessaly trilogy? The first one is _The Just City_, then _The Philosopher Kings_, & then _Necessity_.

Possibly I was exaggerating, in a Gen-like fashion.

Does anyone know if Turner mentioned anything during Geekycon?

Wasn't there, but I doubt it. She has a general no teasers, not telling policy.

I am simultaneously excited for and dreading the new covers.

I don't know why that's the first thing that popped into my head when I should be going crazy about the fact that we're finally hearing about Books 5 & 6.

Punctuation matters.

Lol, yes, punctuation matters.

I just hope they don't put models on the front. I really like paintings better. The more colourful the better. XD

No models, please! I also hope they stick with the hand theme. I've always felt the current covers do the best job of representing the series as a whole.

The cover is the first impression you get of what the story is. Thus, it's a very important part of marketing and attracting new readers.

I kinda get the impression that Megan has some input or say in the covers, at this point. Authors often don't, unfortunately... At least, when the CoK cover come out it sounded like it was mostly her and her editor that worked with the artist. Thus, I'm quite optimistic about the prospect if new covers.

Of course, new editions may mean they'll just re-hash the same cover art, and we're getting ourselves into a tizzy over nothing. I don't see anyone explicitly saying new covers just yet.

Oh does that happen? When they reissue a series but use the same jacket cover? I was always under the impression they get new ones.

I just looked up the series on Chapters Indigo, and they're also now showing the new editions to be released in February. The dimensions listed in the spec is different from the current ones. It's bigger! what does this all meeaaaan?

Generally, yes it does, but like with the special edition of Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, they used the same art with a different color scheme in a higher quality print (plus more bonus art inside).

The fact that there is no cover art photo on any of the websites means we probably will get new cover art, however there is a possibility they may just change the color scheme or the cut or something along those lines.

I think they probably will get new cover art since it's always such a changing trend in YA how covers look one year to the next. I'd think Harpercollins probably wants to update the book art to attract new readers before book five is published.

I would be disappointed if the old books got new covers to match the forthcoming books 5 & 6, as that would mean no matching set for the original covers. :( And seeing as the cover art for KoA is what first piqued my interest in the series (a classic case of judging a book by its cover... this time ending happily)... I'm a pretty big fan of the original artwork. I'll hold out hope. I have a lot of confidence in MWT and Greenwillow at this point. Possibly they'll just give the original covers a sprucing up. I mean, that artwork is gold. If it ain't broke, why fix it...?

Yay! An actual date for the new covers release! I'm interested to see what comes out. I hope the new covers are as majestic as the current ones. I like that they are not overloaded with imagery, but show enough to reflect the theme of each book. Except for the yoyo, which is really not great....

I like the yoyo, if only because it matches the other covers so prettily, and I always find the sight of both of Gen's hands a little thematically haunting.

Hey guys, I just saw Shannon Hale's post on Goodreads that her Bayern Books would also be reissued in 2017. She posted the new covers for them, and they are gorgeous!! Here's the link.

Perhaps QT will get something similar?

Epp! Those are brilliant!

I think these reflect a rising trend I'm seeing in YA of a bold one color scheme, and switches in that color for following books. Maybe, QT will tap into that trend. Could be interesting!

Hmm... Did The Hunger Games influence that, perhaps?
